Dear Friends,

Having just completed a full year of celebration and public awareness activities marking 25 years of service in Northeast Georgia, my hope is that more people than ever understand that “turning disabilities into possibilities” is not simply a marketing phrase used at Challenged Child and Friends.
 It is what we do.
Challenged Child and Friends is a unique community resource with a well-earned reputation for providing a learning environment that is inclusive, effective…and fun!  Our families, board of directors, staff, volunteers and supporters have dedicated a great deal of time, effort and resources into making this a unique place that provides opportunities for children with special needs and their typically developing peers.
There are almost daily “I get it” moments watching the children playing together, helping one another and experiencing childhood in ways that many might not otherwise had an opportunity.  The staff does a remarkable job helping the children discover what they can do, and our parents have come to expect excellence from the educational, therapeutic, nursing and counseling services and activities provided.
I hope that you will take the time to look around our website.  On it, you will learn about our nursing and therapeutic services and SACS accredited pre-school.  You can read the stories of some of our children and discover resources that might assist you as a parent.  Finally, please look at how you can support our efforts at Challenged Child and Friends through volunteering, making a donation, fulfilling a need from our “wish list” or by helping us raise money (and have fun) at one of our fundraising events.

Thank you for visiting our website and supporting our efforts to turn disabilities into possibilities.    J. David Earnest, EdD
